Maximum Entertainment has announced In Control: Rocketry, a rocket-building and space exploration simulator from developer Electromechanical Softworks. Coming to PC via Steam in 2027, the game combines realistic physics, propulsion systems, and orbital mechanics with hands-on spacecraft construction.

In Control: Rocketry puts players in charge of an entire orbital mission. Players begin by assembling their spacecraft from components such as thrusters, fuel tanks, and capsules, with every part affecting the rocket’s overall weight and flight characteristics.

Building the rocket is only part of the challenge. Players must also create their own control panels by connecting sensors, inputs, and outputs. Once everything is wired together, the spacecraft can be tested, adjusted, and refined until it is capable of maintaining a stable flight path.

When the rocket finally launches, players take direct control of the spacecraft. Managing fuel and other resources, operating the control panel, and navigating using real orbital mechanics will all be part of the experience. Whether the mission ends with a successful landing or an unexpected crash will depend entirely on the player’s engineering and piloting skills.

The game features an Earth-like planet and its moon as early destinations, with progression eventually opening access to more distant regions of the solar system. Players can land on unfamiliar worlds, tackle environmental challenges and puzzles, and redirect asteroids to mine them for valuable resources.

Progression also unlocks new rocket components and control panel parts, allowing players to construct increasingly sophisticated spacecraft and reach new destinations. Missions can be undertaken without a crew or with astronauts on board. Manned missions introduce additional considerations, including life support, giving players even more systems to monitor during flight.

For those who would rather experiment without the pressure of a mission, Sandbox Mode provides a space to freely build rockets, test unconventional designs, practice piloting, or simply see what happens when an ambitious spacecraft is launched.

In Control: Rocketry is scheduled to launch on PC via Steam in 2027.
