Publisher NACON and developer ACE Team have announced a closed beta for The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, giving players an early opportunity to experience its unsettling blend of cooperative gameplay and cosmic horror before its official release next month.
The closed beta will run from June 5 at 8:00 AM Eastern through June 8 at 4:00 AM Eastern, allowing PC players to venture into the game’s mysterious and dangerous jungle setting ahead of Steam Next Fest and the full launch on July 15, 2026.
Inspired by the works of H. P. Lovecraft, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu places players in teams of two to four explorers tasked with searching an uncharted continent for a legendary city rumored to contain unimaginable riches. However, the journey is far from straightforward, as supernatural threats lurk around every corner.

Players will work together to complete contracts and survive increasingly dangerous encounters throughout the cursed jungle. While monstrous creatures and mysterious entities present obvious dangers, one of the game’s most unique mechanics revolves around sanity. As explorers travel deeper into the wilderness, hallucinations become more intense, distorting reality and creating confusion among teammates. These psychological effects can trigger panic, disrupt communication, and even cause players to unintentionally sabotage their own missions.

The combination of cooperative gameplay and sanity-based horror aims to create unpredictable situations where players must constantly question what they are seeing while relying on their teammates to survive.
Alongside the beta announcement, NACON also confirmed that pre-orders are now available for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of the game. On PC, the publisher has launched a community-driven promotion tied to the game’s Steam wishlist count. With more than 400,000 wishlists already accumulated, players can help unlock a larger launch discount by continuing to support the game ahead of release.

The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu is scheduled to launch on July 15, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
