Canadian developer Kettle Games has officially unveiled a brand-new gameplay teaser for its upcoming language-based puzzler Wordbound, giving players another look at the imaginative project following its reveal during the Creature Feature & Friends Showcase. Alongside the new trailer, the studio confirmed that the game will launch on PC via Steam.
Wordbound presents a surreal puzzle adventure where the entire world is built from language itself. Objects aren’t just things—they’re words. Players can pull apart items to reveal the magical letter tiles hidden within, rearrange those letters into new combinations, and then compress them back together to create entirely new objects. The result is a playful and often mind-bending system that allows thousands of possible creations as players reshape the world around them.
Each level unfolds inside charming, hand-crafted dioramas filled with secrets. Players will restore missing objects, search environments for clues, and track down hidden Sparks scattered throughout the game’s cozy scenes. These Sparks serve as collectible rewards that encourage exploration while unlocking new creative possibilities.
Wordbound has already gained significant attention online. Footage of its mixed reality version went viral last summer, racking up more than 10 million views across social media. The clips showcased one of the game’s most striking mechanics: watching 3D objects stretch and transform into words made of letter tiles, and then seeing those words compressed back into fully formed objects.
In addition to its PC release, Wordbound is also heading to Meta Quest 3 and Meta Quest 3S with hand-tracking controls and mixed reality gameplay. Support for SteamVR is also planned.
According to lead developer Andy Bacon, the project has grown significantly since its first reveal.
“After Wordbound’s positive reception last year, we grew the team and our vision has become more ambitious,” Bacon said. “We’re excited to tease this glow up of the game and bring it to a wider audience with the flatscreen version on Steam.”
With its clever wordplay mechanics, tactile puzzle design, and creative sandbox elements, Wordbound aims to transform language itself into a playground for players to explore and experiment with.
