Publisher Daedalic Entertainment and developer One-O-One Games have unveiled Curse of the Crimson Stag, a narrative-driven folk-horror adventure revealed during the Nacon Connect showcase. The upcoming mystery thriller is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X and Series S.
Curse of the Crimson Stag invites players into a chilling investigation centered around the abandoned Whiteroot Hotel, a once-luxurious resort in the American Northwest now steeped in dark history and local folklore. Through exploration, puzzle-solving, and careful investigation, players will attempt to uncover the truth behind the building’s tragic past and the mysterious forces rumored to haunt the surrounding wilderness.
The story follows Brit, a teenager eager to escape the monotony of her small hometown. When an opportunity arises to help produce a documentary about the derelict Whiteroot Hotel, she sees it as her chance at adventure—and perhaps a shot at being discovered. The hotel itself has stood empty for nearly two decades after a series of unexplained deaths led to the downfall of its wealthy founders, leaving the once-promising destination abandoned and forgotten.
Local residents speak of an ancient entity known as the Crimson Stag, a mythical spirit said to roam the surrounding forests. Some claim it is a guardian of the land, while others whisper darker interpretations. Whether folklore or something far more real, the legend quickly becomes impossible to ignore as Brit begins exploring the decaying halls of the hotel.
Under the guidance of professional ghost hunter Emily, Brit’s investigation soon spirals into something far more dangerous than expected. The Whiteroot Hotel guards its secrets closely, and as Brit digs deeper, the line between conspiracy and the supernatural begins to blur. What begins as a documentary project quickly turns into a desperate search for answers—and possibly survival.
