Indie developers Wristwork and Tiny Dragon Games have released the first playable demo for Pigeon: A Love Story, giving players an early look at the unusual avian adventure ahead of its full launch later this year. The demo is now available on Steam and will also be featured during London Games Festival, which kicked off on April 13.
In Pigeon: A Love Story, players take to the skies as a city-dwelling pigeon searching for their perfect feathered companion. The game invites players to glide through detailed, to-scale recreations of major cities around the world, turning familiar urban landscapes into sprawling playgrounds for exploration.
The full game will feature large-scale maps inspired by real-world locations including London, New York City, and Tokyo, each recreated with remarkable attention to detail. Streets, buildings, and even the city’s pigeon population are all part of the simulation, creating bustling environments where flocks move and interact dynamically.
At the center of the experience is the game’s ambitious Pigeon-Sim™ Tech, a large-scale simulation system that fills each city with hundreds of thousands of autonomous pigeon NPCs. These birds live and move throughout the urban environment in real time, making every flight through the city feel lively and unpredictable. Somewhere among them is the pigeon destined to be your soulmate.
Players can take to the skies alone or jump into multiplayer mode, where they can team up with a friend in cooperative play, compete with each other, or simply try to find one another among the massive flocks.
For those who prefer a more relaxing experience, the game also includes a passive mode that turns the world into a calming, meditative environment. In this mode, players can simply watch the city and its birds unfold like a living screensaver while enjoying the game’s original soundtrack.
The newly released demo focuses on the Central London map and allows players to try both solo exploration and multiplayer features. It’s a small taste of what’s planned for the full release.
