Publisher Weekend Games and developer Canteen Games have revealed Remote Control, a sci-fi psychological horror experience heading to PC via Steam in 2026. The Brighton-based studio is crafting a tense adventure that fuses the corporate unease of Severance with the relentless dread of Alien: Isolation, all wrapped inside a unique typing-focused gameplay system.
The mystery begins aboard a deep-space spacecraft that has suddenly gone silent. With the crew dead and no official record of what happened, players must investigate from a remote terminal far from danger. Instead of stepping into the chaos directly, you’ll control a series of human “proxies,” issuing typed commands to guide them through the dark corridors of the ship.

Every order matters. Players will type instructions such as movement commands and object interactions, effectively directing each proxy through the unfolding nightmare. But these vessels aren’t emotionless tools — they’re human. Fear, hesitation, and clumsy mistakes can derail even the simplest task, adding a layer of unpredictability to every decision.

Drawing from the slow-burn tension of classic text adventures while echoing modern narrative horror hits, Remote Control leans heavily into psychological discomfort. You may be safe behind your terminal, but the people you control certainly aren’t — and they won’t always comply without resistance.

You’ll have just 12 proxies to uncover the truth behind the disaster, each bringing their own traits that can either help or hinder your mission. Death is permanent, turning every exploration attempt into a high-stakes gamble.

Expect a grim sci-fi atmosphere filled with powerless hallways, failing systems, and blood-streaked walls. When things get overwhelming, the game even lets you step away from the terminal to wander a seemingly ordinary office space — though it may not be as harmless as it appears.
