Developer Flying Squirrel Entertainment and GG Publishing have announced that Over The Top: WWI will launch on PC via Steam on March 6, 2026. Built around chaotic large-scale warfare, the third-person shooter drops players into brutal 100-versus-100 battles packed with artillery, aircraft, tanks, and relentless frontline combat.
Following a successful beta fueled by community playtests, the game is gearing up to deliver intense multiplayer clashes across the muddy landscapes of World War I. Players can enlist as German, British, or French soldiers and push toward victory with an expansive arsenal designed for maximum destruction.
Combat is centered on scale and variety. Whether charging into battle with rifles, raining down shells from heavy artillery, piloting planes, or rolling forward in armored vehicles, every match aims to capture the overwhelming nature of total war. Those who prefer to go solo can jump into a single-player mode populated by massive bot armies that recreate the same high-intensity conflicts.
The experience unfolds across 12 maps inspired by the Western Front, with additional battlefields planned after launch. Authenticity plays a major role in the presentation — the development team includes historical reenactors, and that dedication shows in the detailed uniforms, vehicles, and environments.
Destruction also reshapes the battlefield in real time. Trenches can be dug, explosions carve craters into the terrain, and shifting weather, wind, seasons, and time-of-day conditions ensure that no two engagements play out exactly the same way.
Players can further define their playstyle through eight distinct military roles, including Officer, Sniper, and support-focused classes like Engineer. Meanwhile, a deep equipment pool features more than 50 weapons alongside armored vehicles, tanks, mortars, cannons, and machine guns.
Creative players won’t be limited to the official maps, either. A built-in editor allows the community to craft custom battlefields and upload them directly to Steam Workshop, while server tools give hosts full control over rules, settings, and match types.
