All You Need Is Kill is an upcoming anime film adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s 2004 science fiction novel, a story many fans may recognize as the original source material behind Edge of Tomorrow. The anime offers a new take on the familiar premise, shifting focus toward character development and emotional weight while staying true to the novel’s core ideas.

The story follows Rita Vrataski, a frontline soldier fighting in a war against an alien force known as the Mimics. After dying in combat, Rita finds herself reliving the same day over and over, forced to repeat the battle while slowly gaining experience, skill, and a deeper understanding of the conflict. Along the way, she encounters Keiji Kiriya, another soldier who shares her strange condition, and the two work together to search for a way to break the cycle.

Produced by STUDIO4°C, the film aims to explore the psychological toll of endless combat alongside its action-driven premise. Rather than focusing solely on spectacle, All You Need Is Kill leans into themes of persistence, sacrifice, and how repeated failure can shape a person. The anime is scheduled to release in January 2026, giving longtime fans and newcomers alike a fresh way to experience this influential sci-fi story.
