Gamescom 2025 just kicked off with a surprise that Trekkies and VR fans alike won’t want to miss. Played With Fire, together with publisher Broken Mirror Games and Viacom, revealed Star Trek: Infection — a full-body VR survival horror experience set in the iconic Star Trek universe.

In this new story, players step into the role of a Vulcan Starfleet officer on a covert mission aboard the U.S.S. Lumen. But when you arrive, the ship is deserted, the crew has vanished, and something alien — and terrifyingly intelligent — has taken hold. Worse, it’s inside you too.

As the infection spreads, your Vulcan logic and composure begin to crack. Physically, your body mutates. Mentally, shadows move where they shouldn’t. Memories you’ve tried to bury surface against your will. And in true survival horror fashion, every choice forces you to balance control with chaos: will you suppress the infection… or embrace its unstable power?

Key Features:
-
Full-Body VR Immersion – Monitor your changing physical form as the infection mutates you in real time.
-
Mutations With Consequences – Fight to maintain Vulcan calm while your telepathy shifts into something darker and more dangerous.
-
Psychological Horror – Face visions, hallucinations, and fears pulled directly from your character’s mind.
-
Classic Star Trek Tools – Wield a phaser, rely on stealth with the Vulcan nerve pinch, and scan for threats with your tricorder.
-
Hands-On Survival – Use VR to interact directly with tools, stations, and crafting systems aboard the U.S.S. Lumen.

Star Trek: Infection is being developed for Meta Quest 3/3S and Steam VR, with a Quest launch planned first, followed shortly by Steam VR. The game is set to release later in 2025.
