CyancookGames has officially lifted the veil on Of Peaks and Tides, a brand-new open-world survival sandbox rooted in Eastern mythology. Planned for release on PC via Steam in 2026, the game promises a lush, imaginative world powered by Unreal Engine 5, blending creative building, survival mechanics, and epic mythological battles.
The debut trailer shows off sweeping vistas, mythic beasts, and a world brimming with whimsy and possibility. Players take on the role of a member of the Nolands, exploring the mystical Everland solo or alongside companions, where even the smallest creatures invite interaction and discovery.
But beneath the charm lies danger — calamities unleashed by the gods have fractured the realm. Players will face colossal monsters in action-RPG combat, with the twist that nature itself can be wielded as a weapon. Lure enemies into floods, trap them in sandstorms, or use rapid plant growth to immobilize them mid-fight.
Beyond combat, Of Peaks and Tides offers deep sandbox creativity. Build bases across mountains, or even atop tamed animals. Take to the skies on the back of winged beasts, forage across diverse environments, and craft powerful tools to restore human tribes to their former glory — all while journeying with Elle, a mysterious maiden companion.
CyancookGames’ CTO Chenchao Lin describes the project as an “incredibly immersive and interactive experience with an aesthetic fantasy setting,” highlighting the studio’s custom Unreal Engine 5 design tools that allow for unconventional gameplay possibilities.
