Scottish-German indie team Yaldi Games has officially brought their wholesome foraging adventure Out and About into Early Access on PC via Steam – and it’s bursting with charm, community spirit, and a love for the great outdoors.
This isn’t your typical video game plant collecting – Out and About is all about real-world botany. You’ll learn to identify and gather over 100 real wild plants and fungi (with 50+ available in Early Access), cook mouthwatering recipes, craft herbal remedies, and work side-by-side with your neighbors to restore your hometown after a devastating storm.
A Community Rooted in Nature
The game is set in Portobello, your childhood home, which has been battered by fierce weather. To help the town recover, you’ll venture into forests, grasslands, wetlands, and beaches to forage for resources while learning sustainable harvesting practices. The knowledge you gain in-game even applies to real life – making Out and About both relaxing and surprisingly educational.
As you explore, you’ll cook up over 150 recipes (90+ in Early Access), brew herbal remedies, and bond with the quirky, lovable townsfolk who are coming together to rebuild their community.
