Touhou fans, get ready — the largest Touhou story ever told is finally coming to Steam. Fantasy Maiden Wars – Dream of the Stray Dreamer, a bullet hell tactical RPG from developer Sanbondo and publisher Phoenixx Inc., will launch worldwide on October 20th, 2025.
Set in the ever-chaotic world of Gensokyo, the game follows Shrine Maiden Reimu and magician Marisa as they try to uncover the source of a new wave of mysterious disturbances. Drawing from both official Touhou Project lore and beloved fan creations, this installment promises to be one of the most ambitious Touhou adaptations to date.
Players will command an enormous roster of over 70 playable characters, each with unique signature attacks and beautifully animated battle sequences. Combat blends tactical positioning with the signature “Spell Card” abilities fans know and love, creating a bullet-hell-meets-strategy hybrid that challenges players to balance precision and planning.
While strategists can dive into optimization by building carefully tuned squads, character loyalists can also lean into personal favorites — grinding levels and forming dream teams from across the Touhou universe.
