Nightdive Studios, the remaster powerhouse behind Turok, Quake II, and System Shock, has officially unleashed System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster on PC—bringing one of gaming’s most iconic immersive sims into the modern era. Console players won’t have to wait long either: the game is set to launch on PlayStation 4|5, Xbox One, Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on July 10.

Originally released in 1999, System Shock 2 broke new ground for storytelling, atmosphere, and player agency in first-person games. It paved the way for titles like BioShock, Prey, and Dead Space—and now it’s back, rebuilt in Nightdive’s KEX Engine with a full suite of upgrades.

This remaster is more than just a visual overhaul. It features:
-
Fully remastered cutscenes, character models, and weapons
-
Up to 4K resolution and 144 FPS on PC (and up to 120 FPS on PS5/Xbox Series X|S)
-
Cross-play online co-op for up to 4 players
-
Gamepad support, adjustable FOV, ultrawide resolution, and full mod support at launch
-
50 brand-new achievements/trophies and performance-enhancing tweaks across the board

Whether you’re a veteran of the Von Braun or a newcomer ready to meet SHODAN for the first time, this is the definitive way to experience the horror-soaked corridors and experimental gameplay that made System Shock 2 a cult classic.
Stephen Kick, head of Nightdive Studios, calls this remaster a “dream realized,” citing System Shock 2 as the game that inspired the founding of the studio. “This isn’t just a remaster; it’s a love letter to one of the most important immersive sims ever made.”

System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is available now on:
