From skating across sun-drenched boardwalks to cruising the coast in a sidecar with your pet capybara, Starsand Island wants you to build your dream island life—on your terms.

Chinese developer Seed Lab has shared fresh details about its upcoming anime-inspired life sim Starsand Island, heading to PC and consoles in late 2025. At this year’s BitSummit expo, the team offered a deeper look into the game’s open-ended exploration, detailed character customization, and all the whimsical ways you’ll be able to get around—and who you can bring along for the ride.

Roll, Ride, Drive, or Glide Across a Gorgeous Island Landscape

Starsand Island gives players full freedom to explore a lush world packed with color, charm, and personality. You won’t just be walking—you’ll be zooming around on skateboards, rollerblades, scooters (yes, even ones with sidecars), cars, and even paragliders. And if that wasn’t enough, amphibious vehicles will let you seamlessly cruise from land to sea without missing a beat.

Whether you’re soaring above the treetops or cruising through the surf, exploration is a central part of the experience—and you don’t have to do it alone. Bring your NPC friends, pets, or even real-life players into the mix thanks to multiplayer support, and capture your memories along the way with the built-in photo mode.

Customization That Goes Beyond the Basics

Seed Lab is putting serious emphasis on personalization. Vehicles can be tricked out with new paint jobs, decals, rims, and interior styles—and yes, you can customize your scooter too. Character creation is equally robust, offering a wide range of facial features, skin tones, makeup options, and hairstyles, plus an expansive wardrobe for creating the ultimate island-ready look.

And that’s just the beginning—more customization options and social features are planned for post-launch updates.

    A Life Sim with Heart

According to Creative Director Richardo Wang, Starsand Island is more than just a game—it’s a digital escape built with relaxation, joy, and player freedom at its core.

“Whether you love socializing, adventuring, or simply enjoying a laid-back lifestyle, there’s warmth and happiness waiting for you here,” Wang says. “This island embodies our vision of an ideal life.”

    Technical Director Goltan Gao adds,

“We want players to be the true stars of their story… with full control over how they look, how they explore, and who they share their journey with.”

    What Is Starsand Island?

It’s a cozy island getaway where players can fish, explore mystical forests, hang out with cats, dogs, and capybaras, and soak in the slower pace of a coastal paradise dubbed the “Star of the Deep Sea.” It’s equal parts tranquil life sim and expressive sandbox, with a multiplayer twist.

Whether you’re looking to build your dream island life, chill with friends, or customize every inch of your world, Starsand Island is shaping up to be a heartfelt, creative, and stylish escape from the daily grind.

Keep an eye out for more updates as Seed Lab continues to roll out new info in the lead-up to launch.
