Liminal Exit Is a Surreal Walking Simulator Where Escape Isn’t So Simple

Indie horror fans, take note—Liminal Exit is a new short-form walking simulator that drops you into a dreamlike building filled with uncanny interiors, eerie silence, and a growing sense of dread. But once you step inside… there may be no easy way out.

You begin in a seemingly empty structure with bizarre, liminal architecture—think office spaces without context, flickering hallways, and uncanny design choices. The catch? Trying to leave the way you came only sends you back in a loop. The only path forward is an elevator, and you’ll have to choose your floors wisely to reach the final exit.

    Explore. Observe. Survive.

Liminal Exit doesn’t rely on traditional storytelling, characters, or dialogue. There’s no UI, no hand-holding, and no scripted exposition. Instead, the game encourages you to pay attention to your surroundings, spot subtle anomalies, and trust your instincts. The deeper you go, the more you’ll sense that you’re not alone—an entity begins to stalk you as you progress.

There’s no combat or chase mechanics, but that doesn’t mean you’re safe. The tension is all environmental, built through ambient audio, spatial sound design, and a few well-placed liminal music cues. Walking through water slows your pace and heightens the unease. Everything here is meant to immerse—and unsettle—you.

    A Minimalist Nightmare

Inspired by the aesthetics of liminal spaces and analog horror, Liminal Exit is all about atmosphere. It’s short, experimental, and stripped-down, but those exact qualities are what make it so effective. It’s the kind of experience that lingers with you after the screen fades to black.

If you’re drawn to games like The Backrooms, Paratopic, or Anemoiapolis, this is one you’ll want to check out.

Explore the building. Watch for anomalies. And above all—avoid the entity. Will you make it to the final floor… or get lost in the loop forever?
