Get ready to purify—Fangamer and Mortis Ghost have officially announced that the long-awaited digital release of OFF is locked in for August 15, 2025 on Nintendo Switch and Steam, priced at $14.99 (or your regional equivalent). This marks the first time the iconic indie RPG will be available on modern platforms, fully reimagined and loaded with new content.
Even better? A physical Nintendo Switch release is also in the works, currently set to hit in Q1 2026. That includes both the Standard and the highly anticipated Bad Human Edition, which is also being explored for a full EU release.
“Locking in the digital release date of the game means we’ve been able to set our timeline for everything downstream of that,” Fangamer shared. “Based on our August 15 digital release, we’re planning for a street date in Q1 2026.”
Still Haven’t Played the Prologue?
If you haven’t checked it out yet, the free Prologue from Steam Next Fest is still available—but only until July 31! With over 140,000 wishlists and a “Very Positive” rating on Steam, the Prologue gives players a taste of the new OFF experience, complete with progress that carries over to the full release. So if you want a head start, now’s the time to jump in.
(Note: The Prologue will be delisted July 31 as development pivots to finalizing the full game, but your save will still transfer.)
What’s New in OFF?
This isn’t just a port—it’s a reimagined version of a cult classic with:
-
All-New Areas & Bosses created by OFF’s original developer, Mortis Ghost
-
An expanded battle system featuring a critical hit mechanic—charge up your attacks or use items at the perfect time for added effects like bonus healing
-
Updated visuals, hauntingly immersive music, and enhanced mechanics across the board
-
New places to explore: a library stalked by a page thief, a terrifying rollercoaster, and a mall with no exit—each filled with signature surrealism
About the Game
Step into the role of The Batter, a mysterious figure with a sacred mission: to purify a world overrun by specters and confusion. Guided by the cryptic, ever-grinning cat known as The Judge, you’ll journey through disjointed zones—a metal-producing cattle farm, a joyless amusement park, a foreboding sugar factory—facing twisted enemies and moral ambiguity every step of the way.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering OFF for the first time, this updated release promises to be the definitive version of one of the most enigmatic RPGs ever made. Wishlist it now on Steam or Nintendo eShop, and prepare to swing for a critical hit when OFF drops on August 15.
