Are you ready to create your own chaos? After more than a decade, Castle Crashers is finally getting new content. Launching August 6, 2025, the Painter Boss Paradise DLC marks the game’s first expansion in 13 years — and it brings one of the most requested features of all time: custom character creation.

As part of The Behemoth’s recently revealed roadmap, this DLC adds a host of fresh features, including new art, a playable character, and for the first time ever, the ability to design your own characters and weapons.

    Make It Yours

Players will be able to use an official character template — now available — to create fully custom fighters, complete with multi-angle animations. A how-to video released alongside the announcement walks you through everything you need to get started before the DLC launches.

And it doesn’t stop there. The update also introduces custom weapons, letting you draw your own designs and pair them with the stats of any existing weapon in the game. Whether you’re looking to build a sword-wielding cat knight or a laser-toting toaster, it’s now possible — and fully shareable.

Creations can be uploaded to the Steam Workshop or sent directly to friends. Even better, your friends don’t need to own the DLC to see your custom characters in action.

Concerned about losing the charm of the original game? You can toggle DLC content on or off from the main menu at any time, returning the game to its classic visuals and feel whenever you’d like.

    Painter Boss Paradise DLC Highlights

    • Custom Character Creation – Use the official template to design your own knight. Share your creations online or with friends directly.

    • Custom Weapon Support – Design a weapon from scratch and apply stats from any in-game item.

    • New Playable Character – Paint Junior joins the fight, wielding imagination-fueled powers to defeat enemies with style.

    • Updated Art Assets – All official characters and weapons get refreshed visuals, alongside new world map and main menu artwork.

    • Community Content Integration – Download custom characters from other players or official creations from The Behemoth. Toggle them on or off at will.

    • Classic Mode Toggle – Prefer the original look? You can turn all DLC visuals off with a single menu option.

Castle Crashers: Painter Boss Paradise launches on August 6, 2025 for PC and consoles. Whether you’re a day-one fan or picking up the paintbrush for the first time, this long-awaited update opens the gates to full customization, creativity, and chaos.

Get your template, start designing, and prepare to crash the castle in your own style.
