Dust off your pointy wizard hat – Simon the Sorcerer is back, and he’s bringing the sarcasm with him.

ININ Games has officially announced that Simon the Sorcerer Origins, a prequel to the legendary 1993 point-and-click classic, will launch on October 28, 2025. Developed by Smallthing Studios, this long-awaited return to one of gaming’s most iconic adventure franchises will be available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Mac, Linux, and yes – it’s Steam Deck compatible too.

Physical editions are already up for pre-order on ININGAMES.COM, including a Limited Special Edition with the “Pony” DLC for Switch, PS5, and PC. Digital release details are expected soon.

    A Sarcastic Spell Reawakens

Set before the events of the original game, Simon the Sorcerer Origins dives into the backstory of everyone’s favorite reluctant teenage wizard. Expect snappy one-liners, hilarious hijinks, and plenty of magical mayhem – all wrapped in a beautifully hand-drawn art style that pays homage to its ‘90s roots.

And yes, the original voice of Simon, Chris Barrie, returns for the English dub, alongside Erik Borner in the German version – a nostalgic nod sure to hit longtime fans right in the feels.

    Retro Vibes, Modern Touch

The game boasts an original score by Mason Fischer, designed to match the whimsical, mysterious, and emotional beats of Simon’s world. Oh, and did we mention Rick Astley has a surprise role in the game? That’s right – the ‘80s icon is stepping into the fantasy realm, adding a soulful twist to this magical adventure.

A Love Letter to the Genre

ININ Games’ Helmut Schmitz summed it up best:

“The Simon the Sorcerer series holds a special place in the history of adventure games… It’s a true honor to work on a title that invites a whole new generation into this magical world.”

Smallthing Studios founder Massy Calamai echoed that excitement:

“Over thirty years after Simon first appeared, we’re proud to bring him back in a way that honors his origins while welcoming a new audience.”

Simon the Sorcerer Origins isn’t just another nostalgia play – it’s a full-blown revival with heart, humor, and a deep love for the genre that helped define a generation. Whether you’re a veteran adventurer or new to Simon’s world, this is one journey you won’t want to miss.
