Corgis, Mechs, and Cozy Vibes: ANIMALKIND Shows Off Adorable New Gameplay

Get ready to build the cutest town ever—with a little help from a mech. Uncommon Games just dropped fresh gameplay for ANIMALKIND, their upcoming cozy open-world builder, and it’s as heart-meltingly charming as it sounds. The new trailer, revealed during both the Future Games Show and IGN Live, gives a first look at a corgi, a tuxedo cat, and a raccoon (aka a trash panda) teaming up to explore lush biomes and design a village—all while piloting a towering ancient mech.

    Yes, really.

    Cozy Sandbox Meets Mech-Powered Construction

Set in a warm, inviting world, ANIMALKIND mixes animal-sim cuteness with the muscle of mech-powered building. Players will gather resources, terraform terrain, and build thriving towns with the help of an ancient mech that’s surprisingly good at home improvement. As you explore the wilds and uncover its mysteries, you’ll meet new animal friends, unlock tools, and shape your ideal village from the ground up.

It’s not all solo work, either—players can team up with up to three friends in online co-op to forage, build, play minigames, and hang out in their shared cozy corner of the world.

    What’s in the Trailer?

The new footage shows off customizable animal avatars (the corgi is definitely stealing the show), mech-assisted town-building, and some of the game’s tranquil forest, mountain, and riverside biomes. There’s also a hint of something deeper under the surface—ancient structures, cryptic runes, and mysterious remnants of a forgotten past suggest there’s more to this cute world than meets the eye.

    Features at a Glance:

    • Be the Animal – Choose from a corgi, a tuxedo cat, or a raccoon—each with their own animations and cosmetic options.

    • Mech Up – Use a customizable ancient mech to explore, harvest, and construct everything from homes to gardens.

    • Build Your Dream Village – Attract new animal residents by creating a thriving community space.

    • Explore a Living World – Dynamic biomes, recruitable characters, and environmental storytelling await.

    • 4-Player Online Co-Op – Go it solo or invite up to three friends to join you in your cozy frontier.

    Want In?

A closed alpha playtest is set to kick off in July 2025, and Uncommon Games is inviting players to sign up now via the game’s Steam page. Wishlisting the game will also keep you up to date on development and future release news.

Whether you’re a cozy game fan, a town builder junkie, or just want to see a corgi in a mech suit, ANIMALKIND is one to watch.
