If you thought soccer couldn’t get any wilder, think again—Football Heroes League has just hit Early Access on Steam and the Epic Games Store, and it’s bringing a whole new meaning to the term “fantasy football.” Revealed with a surprise drop during the Future Games Show at gamescom latam, this over-the-top tactical soccer brawler is now live and ready for you to hit the pitch.

Developed by a squad of AAA industry vets from Treyarch, EA, and Pandemic Studios, Run Games has mashed up the beautiful game with sci-fi mayhem, arcade energy, and strategic depth. Think 5v5 online matches, elemental abilities, robotic goalies, and heroes who can literally modify their DNA for a power boost—yeah, this isn’t your average footie sim.

    Welcome to Soccer in 20XX

In the futuristic world of Football Heroes League, soccer isn’t just the world’s most popular sport—it’s everything. Society revolves around it, and players now wield high-tech enhancements and elemental powers to dominate the field.

You’ll jump into online matches—2v2, 3v3, or full-on 5v5—picking from a growing roster of powered-up soccer heroes. There’s Kenzo, an acrobatic attacker with a spinning bicycle kick that’ll make your jaw drop. Bun-E locks down the backline with deployable robots, while Beckers brings midfield mastery with a balance of attack and defense that keeps opponents on edge.

Each character offers a unique playstyle, and while the action looks wild, there’s a serious tactical layer underneath. Precise passing, smart positioning, and playing to each hero’s strengths are key to victory. The controls are easy to learn, but there’s plenty of room to flex your skills—especially with the game’s realistic ball physics adding depth to every play.

    What’s in Early Access?

At launch, five heroes are available, with more on the way as development ramps up toward full release. Early Access players can dive into both casual and ranked modes, and there’s already a roadmap in place for new features, modes, and characters.

The game is free-to-play, but if you’re looking to unlock everything up front, there’s an All Character Bundle available alongside cosmetics like skins, recolors, and emotes to customize your squad and stand out on the field.

A Love Letter to Soccer and Arcade Mayhem

Run Games’ Creative Director Michael Marzola shared the vision behind the project:

“I’ve played soccer my whole life, and many of us here at Run Games play it competitively. We wanted to fuse the rush of being on the pitch and the tactics of soccer with the fantastical action and approachability of arcade sports games. Football Heroes League should make you appreciate the depth of soccer—just with a lot more explosions.”
