Announced during the Triple-I Initiative Showcase, tinyBuild and Fair Play Labs are reviving the indie classic with a supercharged sequel that’s faster, flashier, and more chaotic than ever.
Launching on Steam in 2025, and heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch in 2026, this follow-up brings the beloved competitive platformer into a new era—now with support for up to eight players in high-octane online and local races.
The Race Is On
If you’ve ever played the original SpeedRunners, you already know the drill: race side-by-side in dynamic 2D arenas, use the terrain and power-ups to sabotage your opponents, and don’t you dare fall behind or you’re toast. SpeedRunners 2 keeps the soul of the original alive, but now it’s been completely retooled for modern platforms—with HD visuals, revamped netcode, and even more ways to mess with your friends.
The game brings back the same frenetic pace and cutthroat competition, letting players run, wall-jump, slide, and swing their way through tracks inspired by a retro-futuristic superhero utopia. Power-ups like missiles, traps, and freeze rays return, alongside new tricks and tools to keep every round unpredictable.
