CRITICAL REFLEX (known for Mouthwashing and the viral hit Buckshot Roulette) is teaming up with indie dev TALLBOYS to publish Militsioner—a surreal and unsettling immersive sim where escaping the city means outsmarting a very watchful Giant Policeman. And no, that’s not a metaphor.

A brand new extended trailer just dropped, giving us a deeper look at what it takes to survive in this absurdist sandbox. You play as an everyday nobody who’s been arrested for a crime you didn’t commit. Now, with nothing but a backpack and your wits, your mission is simple: get out of town. The catch? A massive, ever-present policeman looms over the city like a towering panopticon—and he’s got eyes on you at all times.

  • Freedom to Fail (or Flee): This isn’t your typical stealth game. It’s a true immersive sim, where each problem has multiple solutions. Whether you bribe someone, sneak past guards, sweet-talk locals, or go full rogue and break the law—how you escape is entirely up to you.
  • Tamagotchi-Style Relationships (Yes, Even With the Giant): Every character has their own personality and mood, including the Giant himself. Use the reactive conversation system to charm, manipulate, or avoid suspicion. Give gifts, make friends, or get flirty with the Giant—just don’t catch him in a bad mood when he’s on patrol.
  • A Living, Breathing World: The city is constantly evolving. People follow daily routines, new areas unlock depending on the time of day, and unexpected events (like real-time flooding or eclipses) shake things up. Exploration and timing are key to unlocking new routes and secrets.

If Papers, Please, Disco Elysium, and The Truman Show had a deeply unsettling baby, it might look a lot like Militsioner.

The game is currently available to wishlist on Steam—you’re going to want to keep your eyes on this one. Just like the Giant is keeping his eyes on you.
