Get ready to enter a world where the sun has vanished and danger lurks around every corner—Kaamos, a dark and atmospheric puzzle roguelike, is officially launching on Steam on April 28, 2025. Developed by Pepperbox Studios and published via indie platform indie.io, this bite-sized tactical adventure blends turn-based combat with brain-bending tile puzzles and roguelike progression.

Match Tiles. Slay Foes. Survive the Darkness.
Set in a grim medieval world shrouded in eternal night, Kaamos drops players into deadly duels where survival hinges on clever strategy and precise tile manipulation. Combat plays out on a looping tile grid where you drag rows and columns to line up the perfect match—whether that’s to strike, block, or dodge incoming attacks. The twist? You can see your enemy’s moves before they happen, so every turn is a high-stakes puzzle where one mistake could mean death.

This isn’t your typical turn-based game. While you have time to plan each move, tension escalates with each decision as you try to outmaneuver enemies that grow deadlier by the minute. The game’s clever mechanics ensure that no two battles feel the same.

    Build Your Warrior. Your Way.
Kaamos goes beyond puzzle combat with deep build customization and gear-based progression. Over 180 unique items are up for grabs, including powerful weapons, armor sets, and magical rings that change how you fight. Will you go all-in as a glass-cannon berserker? Or play it safe as a shielded tank that absorbs damage? The flexibility of its deck-building gear system means every playthrough can feel wildly different.

Whether you’re chasing high mobility, heavy defense, or a mix of both, Kaamos rewards experimentation with builds that feel impactful and personal.

Explore a World Swallowed by Shadow
Beyond the battles lies a hauntingly beautiful, procedurally generated world that evolves with every run. You’ll travel through eerie landscapes—abandoned villages, rotting forests, crumbling ruins—each hiding secrets about the missing sun and the dark forces that replaced it.

The gothic art direction and ambient soundtrack set the tone for a world full of mystery and dread. There’s a story buried beneath the tiles and combat—you just have to survive long enough to find it.

    Roguelike, Reinvented
Every run in Kaamos is a fresh start, with randomized levels, loot, and enemies keeping you on your toes. With permadeath and evolving “deck” mechanics tied to your collected tiles, the game rewards strategic adaptation and careful planning. You’ll need to think fast, choose your battles wisely, and use every advantage your deck can give you.

Whether you’re a fan of turn-based strategy, roguelikes, or puzzle mechanics, Kaamos delivers a dark, addictive twist on all three.
