Get ready to blast your way through destructible environments and team up with friends in POLARIS, the upcoming sci-fi co-op shooter from Polaris Team, an indie developer formed by veterans from studios like Creative Assembly, Ninja Theory, and more. Starting this weekend, from September 6th at 10 AM PDT to September 9th at 10 AM PDT, the first Pre-Alpha playtest will go live, giving players an early taste of the action.

What to Expect in the Pre-Alpha
This early Pre-Alpha build will showcase POLARIS‘s destructible environments and co-op PvE action. Grab up to three friends to dive into one level, where you can tear apart buildings, crater the landscape, and coordinate your assault. Just keep in mind, this is a work-in-progress, so you might run into some placeholder art and features that are still being fine-tuned.
The big draw here? POLARIS‘s fully destructible environments. Skyscrapers, natural terrain, and anything in between can be reduced to rubble as you and your team unleash chaos across the battlefield. Whether you’re toppling enemy fortresses or reshaping the landscape, the dynamic destruction system promises an ever-changing combat experience with each match.
A New Direction for the Team Behind Virginia
Following the success of their BAFTA-winning mystery adventure Virginia, developers at Variable State have formed Polaris Team, taking a new direction with a focus on PvE co-op gameplay. With a lineup of industry veterans, POLARIS is poised to bring something fresh to the co-op shooter genre, combining tight team-based mechanics with an evolving, destructible world.
